Paramedic
- Julia Cole
Our paramedic works alongside the GPs to help manage routine or urgent appointments, as well as telephone triage (assessment or urgency of illness or injury) and home visits.
Paramedics in primary care can also:
- assess and triage of patients, including same day triage and as appropriate providing definite treatment
- advise patients on general healthcare and promoting self-management
- perform specialist health checks and reviews and perform and interpret ECGs
- Julia is also a Domestic Abuse Champion for the surgery.
Pharmacist
- John Reynolds has joined the Surgery as a locum Clinical Pharmacist. John is covering Denise Tan’s maternity leave for one year.
Clinical Pharmacist appointments are available via a telephone consultation or a face to face appointment. A Pharmacist can help patients without the need to see a GP.
Our pharmacist is an expert on all things to do with medicine/medication. Services on offer include:
- An annual medical review whereby a patient’s drug regime is examined to establish if certain medicines are still needed and how best their care can be managed in future. The number of reviews that could be carried out has reduced considerably in the last 18 months, but the Practice is now able to reinstate them for all patients actively taking prescription medication. If patients delay a review, they may find that they may not be able to obtain repeat prescriptions until the review is carried out.
- Answer queries on medication
- Signing of some repeat prescriptions
- Organising medication after hospital discharges.
These tasks are invaluable to the Practice as they allow GPs to concentrate on seeing more patients with complex medical problems and those who are experiencing ill health.
If you have not had a review in the last 12 months or have any concerns regarding your medicines or prescription, contact the Surgery for a medication review. We will be offering medication reviews with the Pharmacist from late March onwards. In the short term medication reviews will be with a GP.
