Veteran Friendly Accredited GP Practice

We are accredited as a Veteran Friendly GP Practice!

This accreditation is a recognition of our commitment to providing the best possible care and support for our patients who have served in the UK Armed Forces, as well as their families.

What Does This Mean for Our Veteran Patients?

As a Veteran Friendly GP practice, we have made a commitment to:

  • Identify Veterans: We aim to identify all patients who have served in the UK Armed Forces. If you have served, please let us know! This helps us flag your record so you can receive veteran-specific care.
  • Provide Dedicated Support: Our staff are trained to understand the unique health needs of veterans, which can include both physical and mental health challenges related to service.
  • Refer to Specialist Services: We know when and how to refer you to specialist veteran healthcare services, such as the Op COURAGE: The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service and the Veterans Trauma Network (VTN), ensuring you get the right support quickly.
  • A Named Lead: We have a designated Veteran’s Champion at the practice who is responsible for ensuring we meet the needs of our veteran community.

Are You a Veteran? Please Tell Us!

If you have served in the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, or Royal Marines (including National Service, regulars, and reservists), please let us know the next time you contact the practice or attend an appointment.

It doesn’t matter how long ago you served or for what period of time. Simply telling us allows us to:

  1. Add a specific code to your confidential medical record. This helps us see your veteran status, which is especially important if you are seen by a new clinician.
  2. Ensure you are informed about all veteran-specific NHS health and wellbeing services you are entitled to.

Your Health Matters

If you are struggling with your mental or physical health, please do not hesitate to book an appointment to see a GP or nurse. Your service and experiences are valued, and we are here to support your health and wellbeing. For more information about veteran healthcare, you can visit the NHS website
