Carole is the Practice Manager for both surgeries and is responsible for the day to day running of the Practice.
The Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the Practice including human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology to ensure that the correct systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care,
Carole is also responsible for our complaints system.
There are thirteen part-time Receptionists who work at both surgeries, and make appointments, deal with repeat prescriptions, file records and results as well as input data on the computer system. They are usually the people who answer the telephone or welcome you to the surgery.
The Reception staff are members of the Practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients ”why they need to be seen” on most occasions. Reception staff are fully trained to ask certain questions to ensure that you receive:
- The most appropriate care
- From the most appropriate Health Care Professional
- At the most appropriate time
Receptionists are asked to collect brief information from patients to:
- Help the doctors prioritise house visits and telephone calls
- Ensure that all patients receive the appropriate level of care
- Direct patients to see the nurse, other health professional or emergency services rather than a Doctor if appropriate
Reception staff, like all members of the team are bound by confidentiality rules and governance. Any information given by you is treated in the strictest confidence.
You can ask to speak to a Receptionist in private, away from the Reception counter, at any time.
If you do however feel an issue is very private and do not wish to say what this is, then we respect your decision.
We operate a zero tolerance policy with regards to any verbal or physical abuse of any of our Practice staff.

There are two Secretaries, one who works in the Watlington surgery and one in the Chalgrove surgery. They deal with all the correspondence between the GPs and the hospitals, answer queries concerning hospital appointments and insurance queries and are responsible for the smooth running of our administrative system.
